The Superhero Life

The Superhero Life

I’m living the superhero life
With a wonderwoman wife
An while we work for wealth we wait
With the knowledge that we create
Smiles for our children that can see us flying
In our invisible jet where we’re trying
To get to point B
Translucently.

Our kids see us dreaming together
Whether or not we succeed
They can read our superhero faces
In our comic book of love
Where a written-down picture of graces
Displaces
Any downsides in what we’re dreaming of.

Diaper Change Logic

Diaper Change Logic

I realize this might sound incredibly strange.
But at one point in my life, overwhelmingly
I’d Hold out my hand, gleefully, cup the pee
That my son had been shooting off mid diaper change.

There was a joy that was released in his fountain,
A giving-up frustration I could laugh at.
Unsure of how I could combat that
Molehill that just became a mountain.

Me and my pee-covered hand of confusion
Gave hindsight to my logical conclusion
On preventing pee from getting everywhere.
I smiled though, overwhelmed without a care.

Distracted by Social Media

Distracted by social media

With floating fingers all a flitter
I typed my way to twitter
Then I moseyed on to look
In another cyber nook,

Allowing me to spend
Time with a Facebook friend.
But before Youtube had called me
I wrote this poem, which stalled me.

Lemontrade

Lemontrade

Freshly squeezed lemonade
Is something that I’ve never made
But if I was depending
On lemonade for spending
I’d concentrate and learn the lemon trade.

Messy Passenger Seat

Messy Passenger Seat

Sure I can give you a ride
Just give me a moment to slide
Everything from the front seat to the back
And after I move this crumpled up stack

Of grocery fliers and cold French fries
I’ll give you a moment to realize
That you might be better off
Not sitting in my garbage trough.

Delay of Game

My video editing computer’s not working right now.  Trying to fix it, but no success yet.

Delay of Game

I can no longer play
Making videos all day
A ball has been dropped
My computer has stopped
I’m stuck in this delay.

The Wooden Ninja’s Attack

The Wooden Ninja’s Attack

There’s nothing as unnerving
As a splinter that is swerving,
Like a ninja about to begin
Invisibly under my skin.

Though I’m swearing like a sailor
My tweezers must prevail or
Let this wooden ninja beat me,
But I can’t let him defeat me.

If I can’t get him out, then I’ll break him in two
This poor little ninja won’t know what to do,
He’ll become part of me with his ninja ways
And I’ll be more ninja the rest of my days.

Claiming My Shoes

Claiming My Shoes

Although I haven’t spoken in
My own shoes that aren’t broken in
My voice is hoarse from sideline views
Of simply watching running shoes.

I think of walking in your shoes.
The balls of my feet would give out
And blisters would make me lose
My desire to learn about

How well your shoes would fit.
Rather than walk for a mile.,
I’d like my feet to sit
In my own shoes for a while,
Figuring out my style.

It’s time for me to make a choice
And go barefoot no longer.
It’s time for me to claim my voice
Walk, talk and make it stronger.
