Gutter Mutter
The sound of the gutter will mutter
Over the sound of the rain
That hums in vain
To be more than a background
Drowned-out rain sound.
Gutter Mutter

Over the sound of the rain
That hums in vain
To be more than a background
Drowned-out rain sound.
The Dandelion Fight
My lawn is a mix of triumphant battle battered dandelions
Beaten with weed killer, but they’re tryin’
To stand tall, even if half of them fall with a curved stem.
I thought defeat would come to them
But they stand ready for another blow
So I’ll fight with a mow.
The remaining poofs see a tragic
Disappearing under the blade.
But we both know, like magic,
They’ll grow where they’ve strayed.
Selling Fantasy
As if it wasn’t surreal enough,
electronic concrete
came to meet my feet
escalating me above
the strip of
desert waste
commercialized in the aftertaste
of Fantasy.
Pull Door
If you tried to push but nearly slammed your face
You could curse the door or
Simply give yourself some space
To pull the door in this case.
Aloe
This tissue’s like a sandpaper mesh
Around the remaining flesh
Ringing my nostrils with red
Chapped skin instead
Of imagining where the aloe plant grows,
An exotic place where colds don’t exist,
A warm place where they insist
There’s a comfort in blowing my nose.
Killavision
Sit in the glow of other people’s dreams
As their victory gleams
With the reflection of your decision
To watch them have a vision.
Needy
Putting you off
‘till the chaos of the world
subdues into a nearly nonexistent hum.
Background music’s
Out of focus as I enter in
To taste a Bread of Life crumb.
Microblog hog
I’m left incomplete/
when I can’t click retweet/
forcing me to erase/
part of your 140 space./
Leave me some room to RT/
your #poetry.
Muffin Tin
I fill each tin
With a soapy grin
Angled away from me in the sink
Dissolving less desirable pieces
In this soapy drink.
The process releases
Muffin mush to descend down the drain
While I attempt in vain
To scrub the staining adorners
Trapped in those circular corners.
When the Rain Wins
I’ll begin
And give it my all tomorrow.
‘cause right now I know
I’d rather complain
And let the rain
Win.
