Sisyphean Toothpaste
I strain in vain
As I fold and roll and squeeze and slide
To squish the toothpaste still inside
Outward for my bristles’ claim
Of yesterday’s eternal game.
It’d be a shame to waste
Any bit of tooth paste.
Sisyphean Toothpaste

Ice melt
Ears peak to
The sliding melt of ice
Running off of itself,
Shifting the structure in my glass.
Stalling with a Screen
My own bed is calling
Though I’m busy stalling
With a glowing screen,
So poetry’s seen
On your glowing screen
And you’ll be stalling
When your bed is calling.
Spam Commercials
It’s not that I’m not irritated, I am,
But I wonder why I tolerate the spam
That’s broadcasted through commercial breaks.
It’s not the kind that the internet makes,
But its uninvited, untargeted distraction
Generates the same spammy reaction
Unless the commercial gives me something more,
An unexpected gift I’m watching for.
Frame Box
I can’t find the frame box,
The one that locks
Unused frames in cardboard
Indefinitely stored
Until the need arises
To frame those surprises
That are unanticipated,
The ones that created
The pulse for this race
In the first place.
Unorganized and incomplete
I must admit defeat.
I guess I have to accept the blame too
Since I can’t frame you.
Barking Sales
“Here have my card” he said
So I said thanks instead
Of asking why I needed
This book mark,
This personal credential bark
That he weeded
Into the stacks
Of cards my memory lacks.
I like having cards of those I know
To potentially have a relationship grow
But this bark of attention’s a paper waste
Leaving a memory of poor taste.
Convention Center Pricing
There’s no food that’s cheap
So inside I hear a peep
From the office saying
Remember that we’re paying.
I try some budget slicing
But convention center pricing
Raises eyebrows in my head
That ask if I need to be fed.
Strawberry Jamless
Orange Marmalade’s displayed
Alongside Grape Jelly to tell the
Story of which jam’s liked most.
But the strawberryless rack’s like a smack
In the face of my naked toast.
Hotels: Miami to Vegas
The same palm trees
In a chlorine breeze
Make me want to walk along the sand
‘Cause my mind doesn’t understand
That the hush of the ocean unseen
Is really an H-VAC machine.
Same Space
Same chair, same space,
Contemplating grace
In the same chair. Same space.
Same empty echo-ey place.
Inside, it’s the same race
To discover the same space.
